The Diabetic Foot Big Room aimed to improve the quality of care for patients with diabetic foot problems across the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. In England there are over 140 leg, foot or toe amputations a week with £1 of every £140 of NHS funding spent on diabetic foot problems. Evidence suggests, however, that as many as 4 out of 5 amputations are preventable. This case study looks at how they worked on making improvements in this pathway.
