In 2023 the Flow Coaching Academy, with support from the Health Foundation, ran an online survey to gather the views of improvement leaders and others involved in quality/continuous improvement work in NHS provider organisations.

We are excited to welcome another cohort of coaches from Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and joining them are their strategic alliance partners Camden and Islington Mental Health Trust.

The Flow Coaching Academy’s ‘Improving with People First’ course has been validated by ILM, against a set of global quality measures and has been approved as ILM Recognised.

In this article, we talk to Katie and get a Coaches perspective on how the Flow Coaching Academy’s (FCA’s) methodology has made a difference to the way patients experience care in the Head and Neck Cancer pathway across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw ICS in partnership with Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Around 40 trained coaches and FCA friends old and new attended our ‘Connect’ event from across the UK and the overriding comment was that it felt like “coming home”.

The Stroke Quality Improvement for Rehabilitation (SQuIRe) project seeks to address the underlying causes of unwarranted variation in community stroke care provision.

The FCA team recently attended Sheffield Teaching Hospital’s Improvement Expo 2022 which included a host of inspiring and interesting sessions.

Coaches training as part of our virtual training cohort in Sheffield were joined by experienced coaches at a ‘Building a Big Room’ workshop. The Big Room is the foundation of the Flow Coaching Academy’s (FCA) methodology and a key component of the training programme.

Used by Flow Coaches to track their progress towards building their coaching skills taught on the course.

In stage 4 of the course our coaches put improvement into practise and start to learn how to coach others in improvement. These coaching cards are used as part of an interactive exercise to help coaches to develop their skills in different situations.
